MCAC State Tournament Sportsmanship Statement

The mission statement of the MCAC reads,

“The Minnesota Christian Athletic Conference partners with its member schools to form meaningful athletic relationships and champion student-athletes’ development and use of their God-given abilities in ways that glorifies God in all they say and do.”

Thank you for supporting the mission of our league. Coaches, parents, and fans all share an important responsibility to serve as positive role models for our student-athletes. While striving to win is a meaningful part of competition, it must never outweigh our commitment to Christian character, genuine sportsmanship, respect for others, and a spirit of fair play.

As we seek to reflect Christ in the athletic arena, may our words and actions be marked by dignity, patience, and encouragement—whether we are playing, coaching, or cheering from the stands. We ask that all participants show respect to game officials and refrain from questioning their decisions in a disrespectful or abusive manner. Please support our coaches and referees by trusting their judgment and integrity, and demonstrate respect toward every player on every team at all times. Let us be quick to applaud effort, both in victory and in defeat.

Whatever your role in this year’s tournament—player, coach, referee, parent, or spectator—may we all commit to modeling positive sportsmanship and upholding the shared mission of the MCAC. Together, we can cultivate an environment where competition flourishes within a spirit of unity and where, in all we say and do, glory is brought to our Lord.
